10 Eyebrows Threading Tips & Tricks

Well-groomed brows have the ability to frame your face and balance your features. But unless you’re a pro, maintaining them on your own can be a risky business.

Does the idea of threading your eyebrows bring tears to your eyes, literally?  So, here are a few tips to put the smile back in your face. And yeah, you’re welcome!

Choose the right salon
Sounds obvious, but not everybody who runs a salon can wield the thread correctly. Choose the right place to get your eyebrows threaded.

What is the shape of your face?
The shape of your face should dictate the shape of your eyebrows. Do you want to hide the pointy chin. Or draw attention away from the rounded cheeks? Do you want to appear fuller or do you wish to sub-due the wide-open gaze?

Thread after warm bath or shower
The heat will make the hair softer, ergo, making it easier to pull the hair out.

Keep away from eye makeup
If you’re the one who are likely to tear-up, keep your mascara and eyeliner away on the day of threading.

Prepare for the pain
If you’re sensitive to pain, apply a local anesthetic gel to the brow area half an hour before threading the brows.

Draw the outline you want with an eyebrow pencil
This gives you a guideline to work with if you’re threading your eyebrows yourself.

Dust before you thread
Dust a little powder on the threading area to soak up the moisture and make it easier to thread.

Comb your eyebrow
Take a brow brush and comb your eyebrows upwards. This will bring out its proper shape.

Avoid catching the skin between the thread
If you’re threading by yourself at home, prevent the painful catching of the skin between the threads by letting the thread hover slightly above the skin’s surface.

Choose a comfortable position
If you’re threading by yourself at home, sit in front of the large mirror, with plenty of light on your face. Keep stepping away from the mirror to check your progress.

Post-threading care
Apply an ice cube or a cold-bottle, or even a little aloe-based gel to soothe the brow region. Erase the liner and comb out the eyebrow. Use a tweezer if you spot any hair out of place still.

And there you have it! Have you ever gotten your eyebrows threaded? If not, are you interested in trying? Or are you the whiz with the tweezer at home? Let us know in the comment box below.
